Complete Construction Service carried out a full terrace waterproofing remediation at a residential property on Barkly St, Brunswick. The job covered the terrace’s entire waterproofing system, from substrate preparation through to a two-layer SOPREMA torch-on membrane, finished with reinstated pavers on new pedestal supports.

The terrace needed more than a surface fix. The waterproofing had to be rebuilt from the ground up, with proper falls to the drains, clean detailing at every wall junction, and a membrane system strong enough to handle years of weather without failing again. The existing pavers also had to come off and go back on cleanly, but the old pedestal supports weren’t fit for reuse, so we had to source and fit new ones without changing the finished look of the terrace.

The Solution

We started by inspecting the terrace surface and substrate, confirming it was sound, stable, and dry before moving ahead. Once the surface was clean and drainage outlets were clear, we built up the waterproofing system in stages:

  • Applied primer and a waterproofing membrane coat to the terrace surface
  • Laid a separation layer to protect the waterproofing from the screed above
  • Installed a new screed, shaped to fall properly toward the drains
  • Formed screed coves at the wall junctions for clean, durable detailing
  • Applied a two-layer SOPREMA torch-on waterproofing system once the screed cured
  • Extended the membrane up the walls and sealed the edges with flashing

With the waterproofing complete, we reinstated the existing terrace pavers on new pedestal support pods, adjusting the heights to keep the levels correct and the drainage working underneath. We finished with a full inspection of every lap, penetration, and upturn, then cleaned the site and handed it back.

Result

The terrace now has a fully rebuilt waterproofing system backed by SOPREMA’s high-grade torch-on membrane, with a 10-year waterproofing warranty. Water runs properly to the drains, every critical junction is sealed and reinforced, and the original pavers sit back in place on solid new pedestal supports. The whole job was completed in around two weeks, giving the property a terrace that’s dry, level, and built to last.
