Project Value

$60,000

Complete Construction Service was engaged to replace external paving at a commercial building at 88 Langridge St, Collingwood. The works covered two areas: the rear access zone and the front building forecourt facing the street.

The site remained open and accessible to the public throughout the project. The building sits on a busy street with constant foot traffic. The footpath and forecourt couldn’t be closed for the full duration of the works, and noise-generating tasks like concrete grinding needed to happen without disrupting the building during business hours.

The project was staged in two phases. The rear access zone was completed first, inspected, and handed over before work began on the front forecourt.

Each phase followed the same process:

  • Temporary fencing and signage installed to isolate the work area
  • Existing pavers removed, along with old bedding material and adhesive
  • Concrete substrate ground back to a clean, sound surface
  • New pavers installed with external-grade adhesive, set to correct falls and drainage
  • Joints filled and sealed with flexible, exterior-grade silicone at columns and drain lines
  • Edge transition trim fitted where new paving met the existing footpath
  • Area cleaned and handed over

For the front forecourt, works were carried out under an approved 10-day Pedestrian Occupancy Permit. Council permits were also obtained to complete noise-generating works at night, reducing disruption to the building and the public during the day.

Outcome

Both areas now have matching, newly installed paving with consistent set-out, sealant detailing, and clean transitions to the existing footpath. The project was completed in two managed stages over approximately 8–10 working days, with public access maintained throughout and no disruption to the building’s operations.
